THE LIGHT is the first
song written in the "Contemporary Christian Rock"
genre that David
Van Kleeck composed - way back in 1989! This song is unique due to its lyric structure
being sung from the point of view of God to everyone in the World. At this time, no
other song of this genre has been found to be written in this "first person"
style with God being the one making the statements. Because of this,
THE LIGHT has drawn as much criticism as the song
POINT OF VIEW,
in which many listeners have found certain lyrics and phrasings to be too
controversial for wide spread acceptance.
When asked about these critical
statements, David replied simply, "I write what I
feel and do not care to filter the God given gift in order to please a wider
audience or the critics. As with Faith, everyone is entitled to their own
beliefs and opinions. That Free Will is a very powerful way God expresses His
love for us ALL."
